Repairs & Small Works

Electrical Repairs

A lot of electrical work is not a project. It is a socket that has stopped working, a light fitting that came loose, an extractor fan that gave up, or a switch that feels warm to the touch. Small jobs, but ones that are awkward to live with and easy to keep putting off.

Repairs and small works are a core part of what Exile Electrical does. We are set up for the visit that takes an hour as much as the one that takes a day, and we would rather sort a list of small things in one go than have you call three times.

Typical repair jobs

Sockets and switches

Cracked, loose, scorched or dead accessories replaced and tested, including double sockets converted to sockets with USB.

Light fittings

Fittings that have stopped working, downlights that flicker, pendant roses pulling away from the ceiling and failed LED drivers.

Extractor fans

Bathroom and utility fans repaired or replaced, including fans that run constantly, will not run at all or are noisy.

Circuit repairs

Damaged cables, failed joints and circuits that have been disturbed by other trades or by drilling and fixings.

Immersion and heating circuits

Immersion elements, timers and switches, and heating-related supplies that have lost power or trip.

Storm and accidental damage

External lights, outdoor sockets and supplies damaged by weather, impact or water ingress made safe and repaired.

Repairs done once, properly

The temptation with a small repair is to swap the visible part and move on. Sometimes that is genuinely the answer. Often it is not — a socket that has burned at the terminal usually means a connection was loose and heating up, and simply fitting a new faceplate leaves the same problem behind.

We check why the part failed before replacing it, test the circuit afterwards, and tell you if we see anything else that should be dealt with. If it can wait, we will say so rather than turning a repair into a sale.

Landlords, letting agents and businesses

We handle tenant-reported faults and the everyday repair work that comes with managing property, and we do the same for offices, shops and small commercial units where a fault is getting in the way of trading. See our commercial electrical services if the work is on business premises.
